The Sessions

We’re continuing our GamesDev Sessions, a series of lectures in South Wales for anyone interested in the video games industry.
The Sessions are a set of free talks by games development professionals aimed at giving insight into all sorts of aspects of game creation, from game design to financing, from coding to visual effects, from publishing to narrative design. We’ll be bringing in speakers from all over the industry – indies, AAA, education, trade bodies, government.

Session #7

This session’s talks will be:

  • Kerbal Space Program – Ted Everett, Technical Producer at SQUAD
Ted will talk about how Steam Early Access worked out for SQUAD on Kerbal Space Progam, and about the community-led development of the project. Ted is 22, from the UK, and has been working in the games industry for almost four years, starting off in community moderation, working his way over to QA testing and then into production. KSP is his first commercial project, previous ones have been hobby projects in his spare time, and it’s been an incredible learning experience that has brought a lot of unique perspectives on the rapidly developing indie games platform. He looks forward to seeing what the next year looks like for the games industry, especially in the ever-busy indie games industry!
  • Pinball Game Development – Romain Fontaine, Technical Director at Heighway Pinball
Romain is Technical Director at Heighway Pinball, the first ever UK Pinball manufacturer. Romain will talk about pinball game development, and the process and steps from a game concept to a finished machine. The first model, Full Throttle, hit production in 2015 after 3 years of development. The talk will also cover the current development of the next model: The official Alien Pinball Machine.

Talks will start at 7.30pm at Ten Feet Tall, Cardiff.
